Earl Eugene Vandiver went to be with the Lord and reunited once again with his wife Melba, the love of his life. He passed away peacefully on August 8, 2017 at age 93. Earl was born in Muskogee Oklahoma September 19, 1923 to John Wesley and Mary Lucinda Vandiver. Earl and Melba Gene Rogers were married February 3, 1945. He graduated from Oklahoma State University after serving in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Earl owned his own refrigeration air condition company, then began working for the US Government, managing Federal Buildings in Victoria, Galveston, San Antonio, and Houston, eventually retiring in Ft Worth. He loved working in his huge garden and could even make a stick grow. Earl was extremely selfless, always helping others. He was loving, strong, had a sharp mind and dancing was his life. He would spend hours on his computer either converting his thousands of records to CD or on his VHS machine recording dance training videos and would watch them all day. He loved Big Band music. Music would be playing wherever he was. He and mom, sometimes with a kid in the middle, would dance the night away. Earl is survived by his three daughters, Sharon Lopez, Jean Sullivan, Joan Covert, son Larry Vandiver, nine grandchildren and fifteen great Grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2 pm Friday, August 11 at Greenhill Cemetery, Muskogee Oklahoma. He is now dancing with his sweetheart, Melba.
