Dorothy "Dee" Whittington passed away on June 15, 2017 at the age of 98. A graveside funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Elmwood Memorial Park. Rev. Jeff Reid will officiate. Services are under the care and direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy, 277 S. Abilene.
Dorothy was born in Lindale, Texas on August 12, 1918. She married Joe "Whit" Whittington on December 23, 1942. As an Air Force wife, she moved to various cities until her husband's retirement to Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her five brothers, one sister, and her husband.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna and husband Sam Andrews, and Janice and husband John Summers. She also leaves grandchildren Emily, Rachel, Stacey, and John, and nine great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was a strong Christian woman who dearly loved her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 10:30 until 11:30 AM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 S.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in Dorothy's name may be sent to Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. The family also appreciates the care given by Chisholm Place and BrightPointe at Lytle Lake.
