Clara was born on July 6, 1921 in Clyde, Texas to the late Ross Berryman and Sarah Alice (Tate) Young. She died on Saturday morning, November 27, 2016 in Abilene. Clara married Charles Roy Cheek on August 8, 1940 in Elmdale, Texas. She had lived in Abilene after her marriage to Charles, became a private duty nurse in 1952, which she practiced until her retirement. Clara was born on July 6, 1921 in Clyde, Texas to the late Ross Berryman and Sarah Alice (Tate) Young. She died on Saturday morning, November 27, 2016 in Abilene. Clara married Charles Roy Cheek on August 8, 1940 in Elmdale, Texas. She had lived in Abilene after her marriage to Charles, became a private duty nurse in 1952, which she practiced until her retirement. Clara was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Esther Bible Club. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, River Oaks, and had served as the Worthy Matron of the 1013 Chapter. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Timothy John Stanley; sisters, Bessie Pierce and Hazel Tedford; and brothers, Robert and Roy Young.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie Cheek and his wife, Linda of Abilene; daughter, Clara Thompson of Abilene; grandchildren, Randy Cheek and wife, Dorthea of Belton, Texas, Jennifer Russell and husband, Joseph of Kaufman, Texas, and Lora Stanley of Abilene; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Russell, Joshua Stanley and wife, Ali, Haley Russell, Emily Cheek and Jacob Cheek.
